Founded by Stone Island owner Carlo Rivetti in 2009 and designed since its very inception by Acrnoym’s Errolson Hugh, Shadow Project is an independent shadow of the main brand, Stone Island. Or in the words of Rivetti, it is “our Formula 1 team”, not run as a business but as an innovation unit, challenging the entire company to keep pushing the boundaries.
The hybridization of Hugh’s inimitable vision of contemporary urban performance and Stone Island’s unparalleled technical-industrial expertise, Shadow Project continues to sprawl out across the landscape in sleek experimental reinterpretations of icons of Italian sportswear.
Stone Island Shadow Project has long been associated with a forward-looking approach to textiles, and this parka exemplifies why. It’s made using a rubberized fabric — a technique inspired by the parent label’s archives — that’s padded with PrimaLoft® to make it lightweight, water-resistant, and warm, too. Velcro patches feature at the chest — a newly developed pass-through feature to allow lighter products from the collection to be attached to it — and, of course, a tonal compass is used at one arm.
